June Nealon's life was shattered when Shay Bourne was convicted of murdering her husband and young daughter. Eleven years later, Shay is awaiting execution in New Hampshire when he makes an extraordinary request: he wants his heart donated to June's surviving daughter, Claire, who urgently needs a transplant. The proposal forces June to confront grief she has never escaped, while lawyer Maggie Bloom challenges the method of execution so the donation can happen. Father Michael Wright, once connected to Shay's trial, becomes his spiritual adviser and begins questioning everything he believes. As reports of miracles spread and Shay speaks in words linked to a lost gospel, the case becomes a tense examination of faith, punishment, forgiveness and whether redemption can come too late.
