DCI James Langton is nearly killed while pursuing a gang linked to the murder of a young prostitute, leaving DI Anna Travis to help him recover while continuing her own work. Anna is assigned the apparently motiveless killing of a quiet, studious woman. When evidence links her case to Langton’s investigation, Anna is drawn into the same danger and becomes a target herself.
