Detective Ty Hauck witnesses a sudden shooting that appears at first to be a random act of violence. When the victim's identity and financial connections raise troubling questions, Hauck is drawn into an investigation involving corruption, organised crime and powerful people who expect their secrets to remain hidden. Each lead exposes another layer of deception and places those close to him in danger. Refusing to accept the easy explanation, Hauck follows the evidence through a widening conspiracy where money buys silence and a second look at the crime may make him the next target.
