Santiago, a young Andalusian shepherd, repeatedly dreams of treasure hidden near the Egyptian pyramids. Encouraged by a mysterious king to follow his Personal Legend, he sells his flock and begins a journey across North Africa. Along the way he is robbed, works for a crystal merchant, crosses the desert with a caravan and meets an Englishman searching for the secrets of alchemy. At an oasis, Santiago falls in love with Fatima and encounters an alchemist who teaches him to listen to his heart and recognise the language connecting all things. His quest becomes less about riches than about courage, faith and understanding the signs that guide a person toward a deeply held purpose.
