Psychologist Kit Quinn is scarred physically and emotionally after sexual offender Michael Doll attacks her during an assessment. Months later, the police ask Kit to help investigate the murder of a young woman found near a canal, and Doll becomes the obvious suspect. Kit believes the evidence is too convenient and begins linking the death to other overlooked victims. Her search forces her to work through fear, nightmares and the unsettling influence Doll still holds over her. As suspicion moves closer to her own relationships, Kit must identify a killer the police may have failed to see.
